Dervish

Thursday, September 25, 1997. 8:00 pm at Music Hall

The exciting Sligo based sextet Dervish is finally coming to Madison. The band has been performing together for the last five years and has recently released their third critically acclaimed disc, at the end of the day. The Dervish sound is formed around a core of fiddle, flute, and accordion of Shane McAleer, Liam Kelly, and Shane Mitchell respectively, and is accentuated with mandola and bouzouki harmonies and backing of Brian McDonagh and Micheal Holmes. Cathy Jordan's rich vocals provide an evocative complement to the driving dance tunes. Their long-awaited Madison debut is provided an official WORT Welcome and is not to be missed.

Tickets are available at Borders Book Store, B-Side Discs, Spruce Tree Music, Star Liquor, and the Vilas Hall box office. Tickets are $13 in advance, $15 at the door.
