Please join us for our monthly Irish set dance at the Wil-Mar Neighborhood Center on Saturday, March 11th, from 2-6pm!  We'll be dancing to live music by Lilies of the Midwest with special guest, Rick Nelson!

Monthly Dances at the Wil-Mar Neighborhood Center

On Saturday, March 11th, we're hosting an expanded version of our usual beginner-friendly monthly dance from 2-6pm!  Get ready for St. Patrick's Day with a beginner crash course from 2-3pm, followed by live music and dancing!

Don't worry if you're not a seasoned set dancer - all dances will be called. We'll be using gender-neutral (raven/lark) terminology. No partner necessary.  Please bring clean, non-scuffing shoes and a mug or water bottle!

A suggested donation of $10 contributes to the room rental and music, but no one will be excluded due to inability to pay.

When: Saturday, March 11, from 2-6pm

2:00-3:00: Hour-long beginner set dance lesson!  Bring your friends and family!

3:00-6:00: Beginner-friendly dancing and live music!

Covid policy: Vaccinations required. Masks welcome but optional. Subject to change based on community health guidelines.

Note: There is so much music and dancing in the Midwest on Saturday nights!  Since this March event runs longer than our typical events, we understand some of you may only be able to attend for part of the event.  We'll be so glad to see you, for however long you're able to join us!

Spring Special Events

We’re offering several special events this spring!  These events will all be held at a private residence in Middleton.  Space will be limited, so please email us (...@gmail.com" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" ymailto="mailto:Madi...@gmail.com">Madi...@gmail.com) if you are interested in attending!  

March 23 (Thursday) from 7-9pm in Middleton: A night of footwork fun!  We'll review our basic footwork, then play around with "battering", which is the improvisational style of footwork used in set dancing.  There’s no cost to attend.

April 20 and April 27 (Thursday) from 7-9pm in Middleton: We'll be hosting two "brush-up" days to review set dance skills, answer questions, and practice familiar sets.  We're suggesting a donation of $5 for each of these “brush-up” days.  (This is an event for dancers with experience in the basics of set dancing.  If you are brand new, please see below for information on our next beginner course!)

April 29 (Saturday) from 2-5pm in Middleton: A house dance with live music!  Woohoo!  House dances are a time-honored tradition in the set dance world, bringing us back to our crowded cottage roots.  Informal and lots of fun!  There's no cost to attend.

Set Dance Basics - Beginner Series

Come learn the basics of set dancing!  Over four classes, we will cover set dance basics and will learn a couple of commonly danced sets, so you can walk onto the dance floor feeling confident.

When: Thursday nights at 7pm, May 18 – June 8

Who: The class is designed for dancers who are new or relatively new to set dancing! All dancers are welcome to join, but class will be paced for beginners. All dances and instruction will use gender-neutral terminology. No partner needed. Children under 16 are welcome, but should be accompanied by a parent or guardian.

Where: The class will be held in Middleton

The series will culminate with our June 10th dance with live music at the Wil-Mar Neighborhood Center. All dances learned in the beginner series will be included on the set list for the June 10th dance! Suggested donation is $40 for this 4-week series. No one will be excluded due to inability to pay.

Reminder: There is no set dance on April 8^th.  We'll be back to our regular second Saturday dances on May 13th and June 10th, from 2-5pm!  Please bring clean, non-scuffing shoes to all dances, as well as a mug or water bottle.
